GA-ASI completes first test flight with metal 3D-printed part
From design to test flight in six months after close collaboration GE Additive’s AddWorks team, the GA-ASI team launched a test flight of its MQ-9B SkyGuardian, the first remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) with a metal printed part, its NACA inlet.?The AddWorks team was able to accelerate and support the industrialization process and production readiness of the NACA inlet by unlocking design potential, as well as providing expertise to reduce deterministically the qualification risks.

Face shield adapter
GE Additive designed a sturdy 3D printed adapter that can convert a standard hard hat and visor into a battle-ready face shield in less than a minute. We collaborated with TriHealth in Cinncinati to understand their needs and iterate the design with local doctors and nurses. The goal was to make something that is comfortable to wear and easily sterilized. These shields were distributed to local hospitals during the COVID-19 crisis.
